Publishing rules
This English translation is here to help. If the two versions differ, the French version prevails.
These rules apply to anyone who publishes a song on Dundu. You need to accept them for your artist file to be verified.
1. Who can publish
Only artists whose identity has been verified can publish. Dundu pays you and sells rights on your behalf, so we need to know who you are. Otherwise, a licence buyer would not know who they got their right from, and a payout could end up with a stranger.
For the verification, we need:
- your legal name, as written on your identity document;
- a clear photo of that document (the front, and the back if there is information on it);
- your agreement to these rules.
The legal name must be that of the person who owns the account receiving the payouts. This avoids paying someone who happens to have the same name as you.
2. The yearly membership
Being a Dundu member costs 5,000 XOF per year, paid to the platform.
The first year is free. It starts on the day your file is verified. We do not charge someone who is just discovering Dundu.
The amount and the length may change; the price shown in your account at renewal is the one that counts. What you have already paid will never be recalculated.
If you do not renew
Your account is suspended: you can no longer publish a new song, or send one to moderation.
Nothing already online is taken down. Buyers hold licences on your songs; removing them would break rights they paid for. Your earnings keep being counted, and you can still withdraw your money: what you have earned stays yours.
As soon as you pay the membership, the suspension is lifted.
3. What you guarantee about your songs
When you publish a song, you declare:
- that you hold the rights to it, or have written permission from those who do;
- that you have named everyone who worked on it (writers, composers, performers, producers) and their share;
- that it uses nothing protected without permission, including samples, covers or parts of other songs;
- that it does not harm the people or communities it talks about.
If your declaration is false, you are responsible for it. We can then remove the song and suspend the account.
4. Moderation
Every song you send goes through moderation before it is published. If it is refused, we tell you why; you can fix it and send it again, or challenge the decision.
A song already online can be reported by someone else. If the report is justified, the song may be removed, and we explain why.
5. What you earn
Two sources, counted separately:
- Plays: a play counts from 30 seconds. What it brings in is split according to the declared shares, once the platform's share has been taken.
- Commercial licences: you set a price, and the type of licence (exclusive or not, area, length) makes it vary. What is sold is fixed at the sale: changing the price later changes nothing about what has already been sold.
The details of your earnings are shared with you personally. You need to reach a minimum amount to withdraw your money, because every transfer costs a fixed fee at the provider.
6. Suspension and ban
An account can be suspended for:
- a membership that was not renewed (lifted as soon as you pay);
- a false rights declaration;
- tricks to inflate plays;
- pretending to be someone else.
A permanent ban is announced to you with its reason. What you have already earned is still owed to you.
7. If you leave
You can stop publishing whenever you like and ask for your account to be deleted. Songs under licence stay available to their buyers until the rights they paid for run out. Membership fees already paid are not refunded pro rata.
8. When these rules change
Every change is published with a new version and a new date. We let you know and invite you to accept the new version. We keep the date of your agreement: it shows which rules applied to you, and since when.
